PDUs – Professional Development Units are educational units (educational credit hours) used to renew your Project Management Institute (PMI)® certification credentials. PMI® offers a variety of certification programs for project managers/practitioners of all education and skill levels. Once you attain credential certification, it is your responsibility to renew your credentials once in three (3) years. To renew your certification credentials you need to acquire a specific amount of PDUs (Professional Development Units) through continuing education (Continuing Certification Requirements Program – CCR).
At present there are six (6) credentials certification exams conducted by the PMI®. they are:
The exception to the CCR program is the Certified Associate Project Management (CAPM)®, which requires you to retake the CAPM® exam before the end of your five-year certification cycle.
You can earn PDUs by attending events (seminars, conferences, etc.) offered by PMI®, PMI® local chapters and communities of practice OR from Courses offered by PMI®’s R.E.P.s (Registered Educational Providers).
